My solo show at Spectrum was fantastic. Their Brooklyn venue is strange and beautiful, somewhere between the inside of a wooden ship and an industrial warehouse that’s been outfitted to present the weirdest music imaginable. I was supporting a slew of different free jazz artists who played a wildly haunting set of improvised noise that blew us all away.
I took full advantage of the Spectrum lighting and sound system to project all of the Anna Singer/Singer Design visuals above me as part of the performance. The crowd was amazing (weeven had a few Germans in the audience who made it from Nuremberg) and the show couldn’t have gone better. Can’t wait to get back to NYC for another set. Solo shows are freeing and fun, being full of unknowns and unpredictability that doesn’t happen when I do shows with The Hurd Ensemble or other live musicians. But when I’m on my own, anything can happen and I can get fully lost in just weave a web of sound. Stay tuned for new solo show dates coming up, as well as Ensemble performances too!
